We are in our second year of the Read It Forward program. Last year, we kicked off RIF with the book Wonder. Several books were released within our school, and even more throughout the district. We purposefully chose a well developed story about kindness that would appeal to many age groups. After reading the book, readers are encouraged to sign the book and read it forward by giving it to someone else to read.
It is very likely that once the RIF books are released, I will never see them again. That is the reason we ask that readers also fill out an online survey. The survey helps us calculate the success of RIF. Today, however, a Wonder book made its way back to our library. I was thrilled to see the number of signatures. There are so many that the back, previously blank pages, are filled as well as the front. In this one book, there are an upwards of 111 signatures! It is my hope that the other Wonder books that are being passed around have even a fraction of that many readers. |
This afternoon, I will pass along this well loved treasure to another. For more about Read It Forward and about this year's books Hero and Enemy Pie click here.
